Live Music - OLY

Eric Olson, nicknamed "Oly," grew up in Stillwater Minnesota, just outside Minneapolis. Oly started playing drums at age 9, which is apparent in his rhythmic guitar playing today. He began his full time singer/songwriter career in Colorado and released his first EP, “Simplify,” in 1995. Later that year he founded the band Tunnel 6, which released its self-titled debut album, "Tunnel 6," in 1997. In 2002 Oly released a solo acoustic album, "Holly Would," with producer and friend Brad Witham. In 2004, Tunnel 6 was replaced by Oly's next project, Stereomaid, again fronted by Oly and featuring his original songs and unique blend of rock, folk and punk. In 2008, Stereomaid released "The Little Things that Come Between Us," produced by Greg McRae (Rose Hill Drive, Flobots). Notable shows included supporting Porcupine Tree at the Fox Theater in Boulder and playing at On The Rox at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood CA. Oly also co-founded and fronted a popular 80’s tribute band, Huge in Germany, which opened for Jefferson Starship and Country Joe McDonald.

Oly returned to his Minneapolis roots in 2011. In a nod to the great 70's rock that has always influenced his musicianship, Stereomaid released a 7" vinyl record produced by legendary Minneapolis producer Ed Ackerson (Golden Smog, the Replacements) in 2012.

In 2018 Oly worked with singer/songwriter and producer/engineer PJ Olsson, the lead singer for the Alan Parson's Live Project. They recorded two songs together, "Why Don't We" and "No Plan," which are available online.

Oly looks forward to a busy 2023 with solo acoustic shows and occasional full-band Stereomaid shows.

Rock on!
